Description
This listing is for an estate vintage made in India all wooden hand-carved book holder, which folds flat when not in use. These are widely used to hold books of great importance, such as a family Bible, a family photograph album, the Koran, or other religious books of great meaning and import. The wood appears to be rosewood or shaheem and is not lacquered; in its natural state, it is really beautiful and rich in color and texture. Note that the pattern at the top does not match that on the underside of the holder. There are no nails used in its construction. No flaws noted; there are one or two minor cuts where the carpenter's tools may have slipped momentarily, etc., but they are indeed very minor and add to the character of the piece. When opened, the holder is very sturdy. Opened, it measures 7" high and 11" wide. When lifted up and closed flat, the piece measures 13" long. I have priced this to make it affordable for anyone who wishes to display a treasured book permanently and in an honorable fashion. Please see all photos for more details and close ups.If you have any questions, please ask before purchasing. I do accept returns of an item in the same condition in which it was purchased. I am a legally disabled individual, and Ebay is literally my way of supporting myself; if you are unhappy with your purchase for any reason, I would appreciate your contacting me directly rather than posting an "Item Not As Described" feedback - those do count against us sellers! I have many, many repeat clients and always strive to do my best to make my buyers satisfied and happy with their new purchase!
Unless specifically designated as "brand new", all of my items are estate vintage, and thus have the normal "wear and tear" associated with older items with provenance. I try very hard to point out any and all "flaws" that would be important for a buyer to know before purchasing. I encourage you to ask any and all questions prior to purchase.
Shipping to the continental U.S. only via priority mail. Shipping costs have risen dramatically for sellers and I use the method that is most economical and quickest as well as, frankly, the safest. I try not to use parcel post, as I've personally waited ages to receive those sent to me, with the package itself usually dented, broken or literally ripped open. Payment is due immediately following purchase. I do combine shipping on multiple purchases; just contact me and we'll work together to make your purchases receive the best possible combined discounted shipping costs! Your business is truly appreciated and valued!
