    Description

This is a large 1930s quilt top measuring 81" x 92".  It is shown on a queen-size bed, and hanging up on a wall. The tiny 8-pointed star blocks measure 3" square, thus the 9-patch blocks are 9" square.  The stars were all hand-pieced, while the blocks, sashing, and borders were added by machine.  This is not a feedsack quilt, but it is possible there are some feedsack fabrics in the stars.  The green, yellow, and white are all standard percale cotton.  Over time the green fabric has faded, and there is a lot of variability in the different shades of green.  I planned to replace the faded green with fresh, but this never happened.  Also, the machine piecing is not as precise as the hand-piecing, so there are many star points cut off at their tips.  This is a clean, usable quilt top, but there may be some small stains here and there that I am unable to see.  We found it rather hard to get our photos in focus, to I did a few on the scanner to give  you a better idea of the details.  A very scrappy quilt with lots of bright cheery fabrics.
