Before wakeboarding was invented, watersports pioneers of the 1960's experimented with objects to ride behind the boat. Some of the more successful riding devices were wooden discs. Grandpa would take a piece of plywood to his woodshop and cut it into a circular shape. The family would take turns discing in between water ski sets. It was a great way to introduce people to riding behind the boat without the learning curve associated with waterskiing. 50 years later, we've combined the nostalgia of the past with the advanced materials and construction methods of today to give you the RAD discs and the FAD 5 board.
If you're a skilled wakeboard rider the Fun Aquatic Device (FAD) is what you're looking for. If your new to the sport HO Sports recommends you start with the Round Aquatic Device (RAD see SKU: HOSR) before trying the FAD 5 Board. The fun for all ages, the FADs are guaranteed to turn some heads on your lake this summer. Bodyboard, knee boarding, or surfboarding multiple riding options behind the boat or at the beach. Boards are equipped with machined EVA traction pads for a secure and non-slip feel for the feet. This soft marine EVA layer is incredibly comfortable for extended trips and gives you the traction you need on your next adventure. For unsurpassed traction - your feet won't be sliding around with this traction pad underneath them. Each FAD 5 comes with pull-up straps for easy boarding from deep water and handle hooks for hands free starts/rides. Dual handles allow steering of the FAD 5 when the tow rope handle is in the handle hook and dual fins provide for just the right amount of traction. The FAD 5 measures (L x W) 62" x 26" (157.5cm x 66cm) inflated.
The FAD 5 is constructed using 3.15" (8cm) drop stitch technology thin rail for strong edging. Drop stitch is a pretty amazing material HO Sports is using to create the FAD 5. This material allows HO Sports to build inflatable items that can be inflated to optimum rigidity while delivering the most durable inflatables ever offered. This innovative material is called drop stitch and is achieved by joining two pieces of support fabric together with thousands of fine polyester thread lengths. Each thread is spaced evenly, and all threads are the exact same length. Next an air-tight coating is applied to the top and bottom of the support material to ensure an airtight seal. The result is drop stitch construction. Drop stitch construction is capable of achieving levels of pressure equal to 18 psi (1.24 bars). Handle Hook: Put your handle here for hands free starts or use it to dock the rope when pulling smaller children who may not have the grip strength to hold the handle during towing. Two dual layer neoprene padded handles for steering. While using the handle hook for tow rope. Pro tip use both hands when placing or removing the handle in the hook. The FAD 5 has dual 4" (10.2cm) fins for enhanced maneuverability. Board comes with a leash plug to connect your surf leash for endless ocean fun. Board includes a dual action hand pump with PSI pressure gauge for easy inflation of the FAD 5's spring style valve. Board comes with an owner's manual.
