Circa 1920's to 1930's and a very HANDSOME EXAMPLE of the earlier modern day oriental doll, this very realistic rendition will impress you with his FACTORY ORIGINAL presentation---------an IMPRESSIVE little gentleman!
We don't come across these wonderful Japanese play dolls too often, but when we do we are always captivated by their LIFELIKE looks; you too will be enchanted with this doll's expressive dark brown/black GLASS EYES, realistic black HUMAN HAIR wig with sideburn accents, quality original PAPER MACHE or composition material construction with gorgeous modeled FACIAL FEATURES including elongated nose and pronounced chin, and delicate coloring with PERFECTLY PAINTED serene upturned lips!
He wears his original SILK KIMONO in a metallic black and gold square pattern and original woven metallic red brocade and gold silk CUMMERBUND! He has a paper mache shoulder plate and head that appears to be jointed but is a little stiff with age, and his body is constructed of a cloth midsection with cloth upper arms and legs and paper mache lower arms and legs. His bare feet are BEAUTIFULLY MOLDED with individually formed tiny toes, and his hands follow suit with delicate fingers.
He has no marks, and overall in gently aged condition with some craze marks on his shoulder plate and head and some peeling to the first layer of the composition material on the sides and bottom of the feet as well as an area on the back of his head, but overall he is in solid condition and will make a very IMPRESSIVE DISPLAY in any collection!
