    Description

    Anno Domini 1666
    - Royal Musketeers: Musketeers (Commoners Set)
Summary: Set of unpainted miniatures for
    Anno Domini 1666
    .
Leopold I, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire dies suddenly on December 31, 1665.  European monarchs send their envoys to Vienna to participate in the coming election.  These envoys, however, are accompanied by teams of hand-picked men and women who will strive to accomplish goals that cannot be attempted at court in the light of day.
The streets and alleys of Vienna are the backdrop for the clashes for some of the most famous fictional  characters of the 17th century: The King's Musketeers from the novels of Alexander Dumas (Athos, Porthos, Aramis and D'Artagnan) and the Polish nobles, protagonists of The Trilogy by Henryk Sienkiewicz (Wolodyjowski, Skrzetuski, Longinus Podbipieta, and, of course, Zagloba).  Also joining the fray are the Turks and the mysterious Order of the Broken Cross - an evil sect operating from with the Viennese headquarters of the Teutonic Order.
    Which side will you take?
Anno Domini 1666 is a swashbuckling board game of intrigue and mystery, set in alternative reality 17th century Vienna.
In Anno Domini 1666 players control competing bands - featuring the protagonists of Sienkiewicz's Trilogy and the musketeers from the novels of Alexander Dumas. Consisting of between 5 and 12 models each, these bands try to achieve objectives presented to them by one of many scenarios. These objectives include overcoming the enemy in combat, recovering a letter, escorting a hostage, or a chase. Unlike other games, relying on brute force may not be enough to achieve victory. Often, the imposing might of Longinus Podbipieta or D'Artagnan's unrivaled fencing skills may prove less effective than Zagloba's quick wits and silver tongue. Depending on the chosen scenario and the number of characters involved, the game may take from 30 to 120 minutes.
    The King's Musketeers, or
Mousquetaires de la maision militaire du rai de France
, are some of the kingdom's finest soldiers. In the year 1666 there were 2 companies of them.  One were the original king's musketeers, the other were the original cardinal's musketeers, who jointed the royal ranks after the death s of Richelieu in 1642 and Mazarin in 1661.  Serving as a musketeer is an honour, and the volunteers are heavily vetted.  Only brave and well-trained men make it.
