    Description:
A beautiful choice very fine banknote from Egypt. This is the May 18, 1951 one pound. The banknote is blue brown, lilac and green on the front. It has the image of King Farouk the first in a circular frame to the right and a lilac colored circle to the left of the front. The note is written in Arabic on the front with the serial number being only in Arabic numerals. The back of the note is blue in color and depicts the image of the temple of Isis on the island of Philae in the Nile. The back has a white circle to the left of the front where the water mark is located. The back is written in English and shows the name of the National Bank of Egypt and the denomination both in numerals and spelled out. The note has a watermark showing the head of the Sphinx. This particular note has the serial number 970001 (which we like very much) and is series GH/14 (Khah Dal/14). Note that the banknote is misattributed on the PMG holder as having the serial number 980001, which is wrong. We also feel the note is under graded and should have had a higher grade, but we leave that to the buyer to decide. It was issued by the National Bank of Egypt and is signed by Ahmed Zaki Saad, who was the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time.
